Between Sarah and Vandeventer in the Central West End
Metro Cohousing at Culver Way means families and individuals enjoying shared responsibility and creating a community that is vital, ecological and safe!
Vision
Culver Way: people sharing their wealth of resources, those naturally endowed and those created together or individually.
Mission
As neighbors in a housing arrangement that can provide a transformation in fullness of lifestyle, Culver Way residents are committed to responsible use of all resources.
The contributions of each adult, each child, whatever ethnic, religious or physical differences, will be respected and celebrated through love and understanding, through caring and forgiving and through sharing.
Features
We are restoring the façades and other original features of three commercial buildings built in the early 1900’s, and we are building a few new buildings.
We will have over 40 distinctive condominiums.
We will also have extensive shared facilities, including:
Kitchen
Dining room
Meditation/Yoga Room
Children’s playroom
Guestrooms
Laundry
Greenhouse
Sitting room
Possibly a Waldorf kindergarten
There will be gardens, an atrium, both shared and private courtyards, a playground and a pedestrian walkway.
The private units will have a range of floor plans, from small studios and one & two bedroom flats, to two, three and four bedroom townhouses.
People
We currently have an enthusiastic group, including families with children as well as couples and singles of all backgrounds and ages, ranging from 12 months to 60 something. We share the goal of developing a supportive, respectful & diverse community.
You’ll have a balance of privacy and community. Every household has a private unit, each with its own entrance, fully equipped kitchen, and all the other amenities of a single-family dwelling. The share facilities include a multipurpose common house where you have dinner together with your neighbors several times a week. You and your neighbors participate in the design process and will take responsability for the ongoing management of your community, making decisions by consensus.
